About Amit Bando, managing director

mdA certified Test Preparation Instructor with over twenty-five years of teaching experience, Amit Bando teaches SAT, ACT, GRE and GMAT Test Preparation classes in small groups and to individual students. For several years, he was a Tutor Training Advisor for The Princeton Review. In addition, he tutors college and high-school students in Mathematics, English and the Social Sciences.

As a professional training and institutional development specialist, Amit has worked to increase access to quality K-12 education in more than 35 developing countries worldwide. His efforts have focused on improving teaching and learning, involving parents in schools, creating opportunities for underserved groups, and integrating technology into education strategies.

As Director of Knowledge Systems at the United Negro College Fund Special Programs (UNCFSP) Corporation, Amit provides strategic vision on innovative training initiatives that focus on professional skills development, evaluative research and assessment, survey administration, as well as on telecommunications and multimedia technologies. The Division provides innovative technical assistance and capacity building services to its 450+ member institutions worldwide.

Career Summary:

Amit is a Faculty Member of the US Department of Agriculture’s Graduate School in Washington DC where he teaches graduate level courses in Economics, Statistics and Environmental Studies. Earlier in his career, Amit taught at the University of Chicago, Lewis University, New Mexico State University and at the Universities of Minnesota and Illinois.

During his 22 years in academia, he has taught graduate and undergraduate level classes in, among others: macro economics, micro economics, environmental sciences, environmental regulation, energy economics, cost benefit analysis, statistics, algebra, geometry, and calculus.

Amit has served as faculty/academic advisor to students and worked as a financial aid counselor at several universities’ financial aid offices.

Education and Certification:

Amit completed his doctoral studies in economics, finance and statistics at the Universities of Minnesota and Illinois, where he was an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Fellow and a University Merit Scholar. As a National Merit Scholar and a National Science Talent Scholar, he earned graduate and undergraduate degrees at the Delhi School of Economics and St. Stephen’s College.

In addition, he is a Lead Energy-Environmental Auditor and Trainer certified by the U.S. Department of Energy (USDOE) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) under the U.S. Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), as well as a USDOE certified Lead Auditor and Trainer on cost quality management audits (CQMA).
