Amit is one of the most competent professionals I’ve worked with in over 16 years in international development work. Having never taken economics before, and returning to the classroom as a student after more than 20 years, I was a bit apprehensive about my Macroeconomics course. However, I was fortunate to have Dr. Bando as my instructor. He quickly established rapport with the whole class, making class participation both rewarding and fun. He was easy to work with when the emergent demands of work and official travel conflicted with the class schedule. Best of all, for me at least, was his ability to relate abstract concepts to concrete examples, making them instantly “graspable.” This made the Macro course both a reward and a pleasure. I’m looking forward to taking Microeconomics with Dr. Bando!
So, your class has helped a lot! I liked the way you explained the material, focusing on fundamentals yet not losing the track of details. Your relay was always very logical and conclusive. Sometimes, just for fun, we call this type of narration “a talk with a floating fibula” when you jump from one thing to another to yet another, but it is important to remember where you started and what point you wanted to make. You always remembered. Another thing I loved about the class was that it had a lot of interaction. You never denied the right to speak and you managed a difficult task of bringing this chorus of very diverging opinions to a common denominator. If I were a boss of a very big energy-efficiency/environment-protecting company, I would definitely hire you as my closest advisor.
Mr. Bando was a great tutor. I had been having trouble in breaking 1000 on the GRE test and with his help I was successful. He was able to assess my weaknesses and teach me different strategies to solve problems. He was persistent, enthusiastic, and extremely helpful. I highly recommend him!
My intention for signing up for a GRE class was to increase my score by a few points, but I ended up with an improvement of 400 points. Amit Bando is 100% dedicated to his students, to the point where he will even tutor them outside of the official class hours. The people in his class are coached not only in GRE strategies, but also the entire application process. If this is not enough, he also has the amazing gift of never making a question seem stupid. As a History major who has not taken math since high school, I needed a lot of encouragement and under his watchful eye it never ran out. I spent a lot of time outside of class to prepare for the test, but even this personal effort was spurred on by his belief in my success. Anyone who ends up in his class is lucky indeed.”
I really did enjoy your class last term and learned quite a bit throughout the course. I truly enjoyed the discussions in class. You did a good job of connecting basic concepts to the real world implications. I am a visual learner and benefited from your use of various examples to prove the same point. Connecting simple concepts to current events was especially interesting and helped me look at my own work through a new lens. Overall, I like your teaching style.
I think you are an excellent instructor. Your lectures were very, very engaging and you are very knowledgeable about the topics. You are unbiased in your teaching and lecturing and we never know what side you stand on and you present the topics with humor and expertise. Very refreshing!
