This US Department of Energy sponsored project helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Philippines by improving the energy efficiency of industrial boilers, which account for more than 30 percent of major industrial establishments’ total energy use. The project team, led by Mr. Bando, set up demonstration sites in key sectors to implement capital upgrades and operational improvements using low- and no-cost options. The results will support the design and implementation of a government-approved, $8.5 million joint implementation program to improve efficiency in 20 percent of the country’s industrial boilers.
